From our childhood and into our adults years, stories shape our reality, our identity and our life. The stories we read, the stories we tell, the stories we make, stories about ourselves, about our life, about our world.
Sometimes our stories are not even true, just our perceptions of how things went down, and memories can be subjective. Sometimes our stories are so outdated we don't even relate to them, and yet we keep telling them.
Sometimes our stories are limiting, unloving, and cruel. Sometimes they are not even ours, just narratives passed down from generation to generation. And often enough these stories are indoctrinated into our lives so much, we cannot discern if they are true.
Our life is our story. We get to write it however we choose. And we get to create our own story. This is the time to write your own script!
First step is always awareness.
Get familiar with your own story, in the things you say and think. Notice your thoughts: are they even yours or does it sound like someone else? Notice how you feel when you say things, notice where your heart is in each of the stories you tell.
Take it a step further and write down the story of your life, make it fun and write it like a fairy tale. Who's the main character? What does she believe in? Is he empowered or limited?
Re-examine your beliefs. Write down your beliefs abour yourself, your life, our world. Use the prompt:
I believe this to be true...
In my mentoring I guide people to discover their story through the intelligence of their heart. Here's a simple practice you can do to connect with your heart and consult it. Get coherent through heart-focused breathing and cultivating feelings of your heart like love and care, from this place, ask your heart: "My heart, what do you want me to know about my life? My heart, what is my truth? My, heart what is my story?" Stay still to receive your hearts wisdom that often comes in just a subtle knowing, or imagery, and sometimes just feelings. The more you consult your heart, the clearer its "voice" becomes.
We all have the ability and the responsibility to re-write the stories that no longer serve us. We are not victims of our life, we are not here to merely survive. We are here to thrive and to create the world of our deepest desires and most sacred dreams. We get to create our life according to our own story!
