Doubting your efforts?

Updated: Sep 21, 2024

What I observe with clients and what resonates with my own experiences is that there is a phase in our personal evolution when things get tough, the practices we engage in don’t seem to excite us as much, the work we do on ourselves doesn’t seem to “work”, the commitment weakens and all our efforts seem in vain. I realize now as a mentor and as someone who successfully crossed few of these phases that is a clear indication it’s working! The programs/limiting beliefs/draining emotions/ and the process of their disintegration has began- the doubt creeps in- the voices in your head that judge you get louder (who’s that voice anyways: your mother? Father? Middle school teacher?)- because those thoughts and emotions of doubt (insert any other feeling anger/shame/unworthiness) is what keeping the change from happening.

These feelings and thoughts are a catalyst! They can help you recognize your present level of understanding, to re-evaluate your intentions and to recommit. So how do we move forward, and work through this phase?

First of all, by becoming aware of the feelings, emotions, and the thoughts behind them. What is it? You think it works for them but not for me? I’m not good enough. Something’s wrong with me… great awareness. What does your body feel when your mind thinks that? Awful isn’t a feeling. Identify the emotion but do not judge it, or yourself! Have compassion for your journey; healing and transformation isn’t a linear path if anything it’s a twisted rollercoaster!

Connect with your heart! Engage in HeartMath practices to create coherence. From a heart coherent and open space allow yourself to feel and to express emotions without attachments or judgement. Next set an intention and change your energy by cultivating heart qualities like love, appreciation, care, and for some neutrality. Practice creating and sustaining these feelings and opening your heart at least every morning, or every night before going to bed and whenever the limiting thoughts and feelings arise. Memorize the new uplifting g feelings and practice them consistently! Consistency creates permanency. By constantly shifting your energy and state of being to heart feelings, you are creating a new baseline, new program, new way of being, and eventually it becomes your nature, you become it! And it becomes who you are!
